Jennifer discovered the Pilates Method in England at age 17 on the path to becoming a ballerina, seeking to strengthen her vertical jump. That it did (under tutelage of UK pioneer Alan Herdman), and more; she believes practicing Pilates throughout her dance career helped prevent common joint injuries and maintain a sound body for post-professional life. Still, with only youthful perspective, the idea of becoming a Pilates instructor someday would not have appealed…

After college, several years’ work in international development, and several more as a writer, Jennifer’s adult spark for Pilates was lit when her husband gave her the infinitely thoughtful gift of private sessions. In 2003 she became comprehensively certified to teach (mat and all equipment) with Ellie Herman in San Francisco and taught many hours daily in a variety of places. Ongoing education led to completing the Intensive in Rehabilitation Applications with Lizz Roman, The Pilates Center Intensive in Boulder, CO, and certification as a Balanced Body instructor. She continues uninterrupted study with peers and favorite teachers around the world in Pilates and other bodywork and fitness modalities. Jennifer loves the challenge of helping ANY person develop greater strength, flexibility and agility. She appreciates the fantastic reliability of this Method to bring measurable results when taught and practiced with diligence. She is grateful to know the fascination and fulfillment of teaching, and to spend her work days with the wonderful teachers and clientele at Studio 74.
